OOPS! NOTHING FOR O.P.A.M

 

 

 

 

Oops! The end of the month is here and I haven't managed to complete any projects .I thought I would have June's mini finished but I still need to put the binding and sleeve on it. It is hand quilted but that is as far as I got.

 

 

 

 

 

July is pinned ready to hand quilt.

 

 

 

 

I have not been idle. My crocheted blanket is coming along nicely and it is going to be soooooooo big!

 

 

 

 

I have completed all the blocks and sashings for my latest little Civil War quilt. I just need to make some more teeny nine patch corner stones. This is the layout ready to piece.

 

 

 

 

I have finished another book.  I have always had a fascination about medieval life and after visiting medieval castles and churches etc when I went overseas last year I am even more intrigued.   There are 2 more books in this non fiction series, "Life in a Medieval Village", and" Life In A Medieval Castle."

 

 

 

No more Lucy Boston to show you yet. Maybe next time.

RAWSON RETREAT

I can't believe it was a week ago today that I headed off to Gippsland with one of my patchwork groups on a retreat in Rawson. The weather was beautiful and I had so much fun with all the girls. Saturday night is always trivia night and as you can see most of us enjoy a drink or 2.  Nadia was a fun sewing buddy who also loves doing EPP , loves civil war reproduction fabrics and also enjoys a wine.

 

 

I didn't get a lot done but that should be no surprise. I did get some Lucy Boston filler blocks done, and some hand pieced sashings and corner stones for my current little Civil War quilt. Oh, and I completed a block too.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I think I made personal history by only spending a grand total of $16-00 when visiting 3 patchwork shops on the way. What did I buy?  Two half meters of fabric that I liked.

 

 

 

 

I tried to do this blog post from my tablet but the photos I took on it would not upload to the blog so I emailed the pics to myself, copied them to Word and saved them in my pictures to do the blog post on the main computer. What a long way around that was!  If anyone knows how I can put pics on my blog using my tablet I will be forever grateful.

LOTZA QUILTING

I finally got around to putting borders on the June, July and August stitcheries and I am about to trace September and October ready to stitch. These stitcheries have been quite enjoyable to do as I love Jenny's sweet designs and now I am tempted to purchase her new days of the week stitcheries which she has made into a lovely hanging with pockets. Looks like I have a lot of hand quilting to do next week.

 

 

But they have to wait in line because I have had this one pinned for quite a while.

 

 

 

 

I have packed all my sewing ready for the retreat this weekend so it is probably a good idea to start the quilting now.

VARIETY

I have often wondered how some people can make one project at a time from start to finish. I am certainly not one of those! Sometimes I have to really hold myself back when I see another interesting craft or even a beautiful pattern I want to sew. So many projects, so little time as you probably can identify with. You may remember I crocheted a huge blanket last year ( or was it this year?) after ordering some gorgeous yarn from the UK and following a Crochet -a-long. I have done it again. Yep, I have ordered some more yummy yarn from the UK to make a more simple blanket from Attic 24 . Just like last time, my package arrived within 7 working days!!!!!  The delivery man was quite amused at my excitement when I opened the door. Anyhoo, this is what I ordered. It is the Cupcake range and came in a lovely organza bag like last time.

 

 

 

I started it straight away.

 

 

 

 

I have traced and cut out heaps of elongated hexies for the filler blocks of my Lucy Boston quilt which I can't show you because the pic was blurry. As well as my EPP I have also got back to my American hand piecing project, the current little Civil War quilt which I put aside for a while. So, I have started to trace and cut out the many sashing strips and corner stones.

 

 

 

 

You see, I am taking all these things away with me next weekend on my patchwork group's annual retreat. I'm not saying I will actually get a lot done but I can sure try. I think lots of chatter and eating will be on the agenda and I am really looking forward to visiting a few patchwork shops on the way.

MORE OF LUCY AND OTHERS

 A couple of days passed me by without any stitching being done but I have made up for lost time. I have completed another Lucy Boston block and I have also done a couple of the joining blocks required . I have prepared  many little grey squares and cream elongated hexies waiting to be pieced together.

 

 

My June, July and August stitcheries are ready to be turned into minis now. I have put the border on  July and need to find some fabric from my stash for the backing and binding. The border fabrics are chosen and laid out ready for June and August is next in line.

 

 

 

 

I have finished another book! Yey! However, I didn't really enjoy it very much. I have read many other Nora Roberts books in the past which I quite liked, but this one just didn't grab me. It's a pity because I have the next one in the trilogy to read. Will I , or won't I?
