O.P.A.M AND OTHER STITCHING THINGS

Gee, OPAM comes around so quickly and here's me thinking I had another day to finish one of the projects. WRONG! So, due to my scatty menopausal , sleep deprived brain I have completed 2 projects but I have cheated with one. (* bowing my head in shame*). The first one is my mini wall hanging which you have already seen .

The second one is a stitchery I completed a year or 2 ago that I hadn't framed. I bought a canvas to staple it to eons ago and today I decided to actually do it. Well, despite all good intentions I failed to staple it to the canvas because I noticed that there were quite a few wrinkles in the borders despite ironing it 3 times. So, I have left it taped to the canvas so I can try to rectify the problem when I am in a better head space. Thus, the "cheat" OPAM. And, to top it off, the pic is blurry grrrrrrrr! Anyhoo, you get the idea.

I completed Jenny's "May" stitchery, the one with the problematic boot.( I did end up unpicking it and sewing it with a new thread). I am now auditioning the little mini charm squares , a gift from Barb at Christmas. Yep, it is definitely easier to match threads with preselected fabrics than the other way around. Dah! Only took me about a decade to come to this realisation.

The " June" stitchery is underway.

Another Lucy Boston block is almost complete.

My previous life as an avid reader is returning. I have finished Harper Lee's book and thoroughly enjoyed it. Hmm. I keep looking at the cover thinking I may recreate the bird on the branch as an applique....one day.

Thanks for taking the time to visit.

APRIL IS COMING

Can you believe the first 1/4 of the year is almost over? Where has all the stitching time gone? I have really enjoyed stitching Jenny's calendar designs and have made them into individual mini quilts. I have completed April's stitchery and it is ready to display as soon as April arrives. I machine quilted this one instead of hand quilting it . Just straight lines using the normal foot. Lazy and not particularly effective but it will do.

Meanwhile , back in Teddy Land, I have made progress. With only a teeny tiny bit of stitching left to do on the last block , I have cut all the hexies out of the backing fabric and made the centre hexie. I discovered that I hadn't stitched a leaf on one of the blocks so it was promptly rectified and I have made a point of thoroughly checking each block now. My eyes are not as good as they used to be. Ho hum!

Today is Teddy day for me and maybe a little Lucy Boston . What are you stitching today?

UP UP AND AWAY

Yesterday, this was my view in the afternoon.

With everything I needed returning home from not so sunny Qld.
( Michelle, I bought that book at Maroochydore airport, couldn't get it at Tullamarine before I left.)

We had been up in Maloolooba for a family wedding near Caloundra

I basted these Lucy Boston pieces on the trip up.

But I didn't get much stitching done while I was up there as the light was poor and I wasn't happy with the stitching I did. Now I cannot find the thread I stitched the boot with.

Within half an hour of being back home I had unpacked, put a load of washing on, and been down to the local deli for some dinner supplies. I must admit that I am not feeling very well today as I think the air con has affected my throat and chest. I actually slept for a few hours last night which was a bonus . So, today I stitched a little more of that stitchery and I have decided not to reverse stitch the boot. I do, however, need to hunt through my threads for another one similar to the boot thread.

Today, I had a BIG parcel arrive from Barb. Wooohooo! That put a smile on my dial!

I promise I shall not open it until my birthday but I am quite curious .

ANOTHER LUCY AND TEDDY

I have really enjoyed stitching my Tiny Teacup Teddies . I have completed the fifth one and have nearly finished the final block . I am actually feeling quite excited about getting this project finished so I can display it on my table . Here is the 5th one.

My 6th Lucy Boston block is done.

And I have fussy cut 2 more blocks that arrived today.

Wooohooo! My hair is purple again. I'm back!

Thanks for visiting.

OH MY! IT'S MARCH ALREADY!

It's now March so I had to remove my February stitchery from its hanger and put up the March one I completed. I have now finished April and it is ready to cut to a better size and have the border sewn on . With all these minis I have chosen my fabrics first  then coordinated the threads with them. I have finally learned to do it this way after years of making projects and finding it so hard to match up fabrics. Dah!!! I can't believe it has taken me so long to work it out!

I have been keeping up with the Splendid Sampler blocks , well I thought I had. Do you know what I did? I cut back the 2nd and 3rd blocks to 6" x 6" instead of six and a half inches square!!!! I made the mistake of reading the top of the instructions that said the finished block was 6 inches square. When I read the bottom of the instructions I realised my mistake and I am NOT happy!!! Any other silly people out there? Nope? I thought not. Anyhoo, I have soldiered on and made this block and now have the latest 2 to make before redoing the ones I did wrong.

At least the Tiny Teacup Teddies make me happy I have made 3 more with only 2 left to stitch. I am really looking forward to making them into the table topper.

I must get back to Lucy this week.
