HOME AGAIN

I had a lovely weekend at Rawson in Gippsland with one of my patchwork groups. In my last post I showed you what I was taking with me and here is what I achieved.

The 1st stitchery of Woodland Secrets.

an

The 1st 3 rows of my latest little Civil War quilt.

This is the layout I am doing.

We stopped at 3 quilt shops on the way there and one on the way home. I bought some fat quarters , a beautiful Cottage Garden Thread which I was inspired to buy after seeing so many beautiful autumn leaves on the ground  and heaps of linen for my stitcheries.

AND I finally found a white quilt hanger which is now in my bedroom displaying my little Dream quilt designed by Val Laird.

I hope you had a fun and productive weekend too.

PREPARATIONS

Woohoo! I am soon  heading off to a patchwork retreat with one of my patchwork groups .I love starting new projects on retreats so I am preparing the  Woodland Secrets quilt stitcheries to take with me.

I have been stitching things for Christmas and each month at a " Sit and Sew" day we are all making things for Christmas.  This is a Rosalie Quinlan stitchery that I have had for a while and decided to start.

I have traced some stitcheries for a couple of Christmas pressies ready to grab and go anytime.

There is another 12" Mini swap due in June which has to be words or a verse. I completed this stitchery a couple of weeks ago for it and rummaged through my stash yesterday for some suitable fabrics for the borders.

So, I now feel quite good having prepared all these things.

Thanks for stopping by. Angel Blessings to you all.

CUP CAKES AND MORE

Mmmmmm cupcakes. Didn't we call them patty cakes?  These cupcakes are calorie free and were fun to make. A very talented lady at one of my quilt groups is running a monthly Cupcake BOM. Each month the cupcake depicts a theme. We were instructed to do whatever we wished with the blocks and to add our own creativity if we wished to do so.  The first block was to be Australia Day.  The  Australia was included to trace and I chose to use it. But, I also added a little mouse who was eating crumbs. Tassie has fallen off and some sprinkles too. I added some flies to Australia to hold the applique down. ( Even though my hubby thought they were crows!!!! Grrrrrr)

Then came Easter. I added the Easter Bunny.

The next one is Anzac Day followed by Mothers Day but I haven't started them yet. Meanwhile, I decided to search for some border fabrics for my "Sew, Laugh, Love" stitchery I completed. So, today I ventured out into the rain and came home with the fabric I wanted plus some organic cotton yarn for some knitted knockers ,( I shall tell you more about that next time), a Cottage Garden thread I needed to replace as I have used the particular colour up in a mini swap AND some lovely Seasons threads.

Can you feel the joy seeping through cyberspace? Hehehehe. Finally , I would like to invite you to a big Quilt In on August 2nd down here on the Mornington Peninsula. Our 3 local patchwork groups ( 2 of which I am a member) are running this fabulous event. If you purchase tickets prior they are only $7-00. If you pay at the door they will be $10-00.

It would be fantastic to catch up with a few bloggy friends on the day. The Peninsula is really easy to get to via the new Peninsula Link.

Thanks so much for stopping by again. Angel Blessings to you all.
