LAST LUCY ARRIVED

I have been waiting for my last Lucy Boston block to arrive so I can start putting the quilt together. It arrived today so I am looking forward to some challenging fussy cutting with this one. I also ordered a "Petite Pack" of Houghton Hall fabrics. Take a peek over at "Shiralee Stitches" if you would like to see more Lucy Boston blocks or packs of fabrics.

The crib quilt is coming along nicely with the last pieces ironed on ready to hand applique but I am giving my hands and fingers a rest from appliqueing  as I was in a bit of pain. So, stitching Michelle's "L'il Aussie Christmas Decos " has been a refreshing and relaxing stitching experience .

I have finished another book. Yey!

I hope you are enjoying a lovely Spring day.

FIRST FINISH FOR CHRISTMAS

Yey! I have finished my first Christmas project. I haven't completed ones that are half done but I shall be getting back to them soon. This year I have been determined to finish everything I start, thus older projects awaiting completion. So, here is my Christmas table mat made from my stash except for the backing and binding.

I have made great progress with the crib quilt.  There are a few more leaves, some acorns and a couple more critters to go on it yet.

I have had to take a break from this hand appliqueing for a couple of days. My forefinger on my right hand is rather arthritic and I have callouses on both forefingers and my right thumb!  I just happened to be in my fav quilt shop yesterday and found these (apparently popular) applique needles which are specially polished and plated to make piercing the fabric a lot smoother and therefore easier.I shall let you know how I go with them. My much used needle threader broke so I also bought a new one from the same shop.

Thanks for visiting me again.

PIECE YOURSELF TOGETHER

I have just joined Anthea's linky as I seem to do so much English Paper Piecing  but have never joined in before. As a result of not having posted the linky every month I have a heap to catch up with . So, here are 8 of my Lucy Boston " Patchwork of the Crosses" blocks so far.( I have no idea where to find the pics of the other 3 I have completed). I am only making 12 blocks to make a smaller quilt than the original.

And some filler blocks to surround them.

A GOOD WEEK

Earlier this past week I received Michelle's new pattern which has the cutest Aussie animals in a Christmas theme. I am itchin' for stitchin' this one.

On Thursday I went on a bus trip with one of my patchwork groups to see the " Making the Australian Quilt" exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria at Federation Square. Oh my! Was I in heaven! So many beautiful antique quilts made by hand, probably by candlelight.  Some of the English Paper Pieced ones still had papers in them and I guess that is how they managed to date some of them. So many beautiful Crazy Quilts, Log Cabins, Tumbling Blocks, hexies appliques and embroidery. There were also some Waggas. I did take pics on my new phone but I can't load them onto the computer. When I bought the phone they promised me I would be able to but upon trying I realised I need to download a new program which is only available on particular computers. You guessd it, NOT MINE! So, NOT HAPPY! Thus no pics. After lunch at a Lygon St Italian Restaurant we then went to The Cutting Cloth in Fairfield which I love. I  bought some fat 1/4s and some hanky linen which I have  been unable to find locally.

Then we went to GJ's Fabrics where I bought some cat fabric, owl fabric ( no surprise there) and some contrast fabric for borders on whatever I make with these fabrics.

The baby blanket is growing.

I even finished another book.( But didn't really enjoy it).

A MATCHING SET AND O.P.A.M

Whew! I just managed to finish 4 coasters to match the table runner in time for O.P.A.M.
These are hand pieced and hand quilted unlike the table runner.

So, in September I completed the above as well as.......

6 burp cloths.

And 6 bibs.

Looks like baby things are on my agenda for some time now.
