A FINISH WEEKEND

No, I did not go to Finland for the weekend. What a trek that would be!  For the past few days I have been determined to complete a few projects . A while ago I did some stitcheries and pieced the top of a tablerunner that was in one of the magazines.

The original pattern was done using  1930's reproduction prints but I wanted to use a  pack of Charm Squares that I had  and  my Cottage Garden threads for the stitcheries. I did the stitcheries on white linen. Here are some closeups of the stitcheries. I love the Cottage Garden variegated threads.

I am rather pleased with how the tablerunner turned out. And it is just for me.  I also completed the 4 Gail Pan pincushions I had made stitcheries for.

I completed a birthday present I have been working on for a girlfriend but I cannot show it to you until next week because chances are she will look in here and I want it to be a surprise.  Last week  I completed another Henrietta Whiskers block and also realised that I hadn't appliqued the sign on a previous one I showed you, so here they are.

AND 3 more Farmer's Wife blocks.

Okay, away from the sewing now. I couldn't resist buying some more lovely yarn and a knitting pattern. The cotton is to make a vest for myself and the 2 balls of Noro  are to make a scarf.

The knitting bag was from one of those discount stores. I need  a few  bags for different knitting projects just like I need a variety of project boxes and bags for my patchwork and quilting. Do you have heaps of bags and boxes to keep things in order?

MORE BLOCKS, BIBS AND BIRTH SAMPLER

Hi everyone, Thankyou for visiting me again. I have finished another 4 blocks of the Farmer's Wife Quilt Sampler.

I completed one when I went overseas last Friday.  Yep, overseas from Sorrento to Queenscliffe on the ferry to visit the quilting group at Pt Lonsdale, The Lonsdale Lights. About 19 of our patchwork group met at Sorrento for the 9-00am ferry across the great waters to have a day of  chatting, eating and show and tell.  This is an annual trek we make and the Pt Lonsdale girls visit us later in the year. They are a lovely talented bunch of ladies, and we look forward to catching up every year.

I finally completed the last birth sampler and bibs for my newest great niece, Miley. I have made the same birth samplers in different colours and the same bibs for my great nephew, Ondre and other great niece,  Lillah. All 3 babes were born between November and February so I have been rather busy. I like that kind of busy.

The past week I received the 2nd pack from Patchwork with Busyfingers ( Sue Daley)  "Block to Block Fabric Club". This is a monthly club where you receive  8 x  fat 1/8ths of reproduction fabrics  and a couple of block patterns. I shall be hand piecing mine. No surprise there!  The first pack came with some lovely templates which will be useful for a number of projects.



And finally, on a whim, I bought this cute little tray today.

WHAT'S IN THE BOX?

I thought I would show you one of my "ready to go" project boxes.  This one is for my "Farmer's Wife Quilt Sampler" (FW) blocks.


 



Inside this box is another box among other things.

This one has my embroidery scissors, a selection of threads, my handy needle threader, and my nifty Clover finger press. Seeing that I use size 9 needles I really do need the threader sometimes, especially when I am doing a lot of handstitching. 

I keep the pre -cut  blocks in little plastic bags which are labelled with the block names.

And  the current block I am working on is also in the box pinned to the calico.
