MULTINATIONAL STITCHING

I am still having trouble with blogger, infact I can no longer leave comments on all your lovely blog posts. Soooo frustrating! I am taking my tablet to my computer fix-it man this coming week to hopefully solve the problem. Meanwhile I shall just enjoy browsing at your blogs and emailing you when I can.

I have had a few stitch free days due to ill health but on one of these days I sat in bed doing something fairly simple that required little concentration and not much accuracy, SASHIKO. I bought a tablerunner piece at the fair to make these lovely stars to hang up as Christmas ornaments. I just need to stitch some Christmas fabric backing onto them, add  some string to hang them and stuff them with polyfill.  Unfortunately ,this is a sort of fussy cut thing and I have left over fabric that I can.t do much with. I shall need to come up with a creative idea to use it.

 

 

I have completed the last 2 stitcheries for my Woodland Secrets quilt. It is getting exciting now.

 

 

 

 

I subscribed to Simply Vintage magazine and issue 11 arrived addressed  to MME Ondrea . I got quite a kick out of being addressed as madame. So much more elegant than MS .I do love French even though I haven't done it for over 40 years.

 

 

 

So, this past week I have had a trip around the world. A bit of Japanese stitching, stitching woodlands of England and receiving a French magazine ( in English thank goodness!).

 

Once again, I apologise for not being able to comment on your blogs and coming up as a" no reply" blogger. I miss all your emails. Wish me luck.

BLOGGER PROBLEMS

This past week I have had a few problems commenting on people's blogs. I rectified the problem, sort of, but now appear to be a "no reply" blogger! I have no idea why all these problems have come about and I am getting quite frustrated. So , to all my bloggy friends, I apologise and I am trying to fix the problems. Although, if anyone knows how to change the "no reply" issue I would love to hear from you.


NOW the good stuff. On Wednesday I attended a wonderful workshop at Treehouse Textiles with Gail Pan. There were are couple of us groupies there and others there to actually learn the basics. I did, however, still learn a couple of useful things. Gail had all her beautiful projects for us to look at  and her work is absolutely wonderful. There were quilts, wall hangings, pincushions, bags and heaps of other things to fondle. We were given her new stitchery to work on which is not officially released until next month. I chose to use a Cosmo Seasons blue variegated thread.

 


I also purchased some of Gail's yummy new fabrics and can't wait to use them.

 

 

 

Treehouse Textiles sell heaps of beautiful fabrics , more contemporary than I usually choose. They also have some yummy linens. So, my plan is to make some cushions with these...

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Seeing as the weather has been quite perfect for stitching, I have finished another little Christmas design by Gail Pan ,( I think this is the 6th one of the same), to make into a small Christmas pressie.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I found the design for this cat stitchery in Simply Vintage and have used Cottage Garden threads in the same colour I used for Simone's mini.

 

 

 

 

 

 

I hope you have all been able to find time to stitch especially during these cold, windy, wet days. Please be patient with my blogger problems as I really enjoying being part of the blogging community.

YEY!

 This week I have had quite a productive time .  I  found this gorgeous tin in an Op Shop....

knitted myself a pair of fingerless gloves ( it is a bit difficult taking a pic of one's own pair of hands, thus the one glove pic)....

 

 

 

finished knitting a boob (for Knitted Knockers )....

 

 

 

 

finally finished the 4th baby blanket for the Womens Refuge....

 

 

wrapped up soap in knitted facewashers for the Womens Refuge .....

 

 

 

 

and tied the baby blankets up with ribbon.

 

 

 

 

All is ready to be taken over to the Good Shepherd organisation

next week.

 

Here are 3 more books I have read. All non fiction.

 Father Bob is a real inspiration for humanity , the one about the nurse is also very inspirational  and the other about the convict women is simply interesting history.

 

 

 

 

 

I completed another stitchery but that can wait until my next post.

LOTZA LOVELIES

Did all you crafty Melbournians make it to the Craft Fair last weekend? I had the opportunity to go with one of my patchwork groups on Sunday. I don't know  if it was simply due to being the last day of the fair or the really horrid weather but it was so easy to walk around and browse at everything. I am used to having to walk sideways , keep excusing myself  and waiting 10 deep in a queue to look at the stalls but this time it was soooo different.

I was on the hunt for Gail Pan's new book  and another book on using Civil War fabrics. Wooohooo! I found them both.

Gail's book is fantastic. I love every project and plan to make them all. It was so nice to catch up with Gail again and have a chat. She kindly signed her book for me. I look forward to seeing her again in a couple of weeks at Treehouse Textiles where she is doing a workshop.  The next thing on my list was the Quilt Mania stand where I subscribed to my fav mag Simply Vintage.

 

 

I bought 3 back dated mags for $20-00, a real bargain (except they are all in French).

 

And look what I got as a freebie with the subscription.

 

 

 

Yey! An Anni Downs bag. I am still doing the happy dance. Ofcourse, more Civil War repros were a must have.

 

 

 

I couldn't pass up a couple of Rosie Q's BOM stitcheries with the gorgeous muted Japanese linens and I also bought the necessities to make some Sashiko Christmas deco stars. Marg Low had some gorgeous little Christmas kits that can be hand sewn so I bought one that has a reindeer button with it. I also found some beads to make some hat pins to go with the purple hat pincushion I have. There were heaps of Cottage Garden threads at one of the stalls so I bought a couple. As you do!

 

NOW dada!!! I finally finished the 12" mini and posted it today. I can't say who it is for until she receives it. I do hope she likes it.
